The latest in a long line of viral optical illusions is not only leaving viewers scratching their heads - but also biting their nails in horror.

This seemingly-innocent image appears at first glance to depict nothing but a quaint, retro-style diner - but upon closer inspection, the illustration, which has quickly captured the internet's attention, is actually filled with small, terrifying details.

Viewers are placed in a first-person position, holding a cup of coffee in their hand and looking out into a diner; a waitress is cutting pie, a man is reading a newspaper, and a woman attempts to wrangle her child. But is that all?

What do you see? This optical illusion seems quaint and pleasant at first - but take another look and the horrifying details will start to emerge

Upon closer inspection, the viewer quickly realizes that the illustration is jam-packed with chilling details that turn this seemingly-innocent image into a horrific masterpiece.

But how many of these disturbing details can you find?

Some of the spooky features are more obvious than others - take the skull in the cup of coffee for example.

But did you catch the gills on the blind man's neck? Or how about the fact that the blind man is reading a newspaper? Not exactly creepy, but certainly confusing.

Reddit users were quick to find the details in this image, but of course they did so with a sense of humor:

11 terrifying details! Upon closer inspection, this illustration is riddled with spooky details, from a bloody pie, to an eyeball on a plate - to ants covering the table

'That woman is awful at cutting pie,' reads one comment. 'Like one slice in and she already has most of it on the counter.' Someone else cleverly replied,

'She's nervous. There's a monster squid behind her.'

The people of Reddit also put their group-think skills to good use in an attempt to decipher the words written in the notebook in the foreground. Though the entirety of the text isn't readily visible, it seems to say:

'I have to think he is less strange than the horrifying creature that seems to have inhabited the cabinet behind... all tentacles and teeth...'

So yes, every little detail of this image is terrifying.

The illustration, titled 'Blue Plate Special,' was created by artist Jeff Lee Johnson as part of a book for the upcoming game 'The Investigators of Arkham Horror.' The game was inspired by the works of famous horror author H.P. Lovecraft, so it comes as no surprise that the illustration has equally creepy undertones.

Though it may not appear so at first glance, this spooky optical illusion certainly makes 'the dress' look tame in comparison.
